CHARLIE AND LIBBY WITH COCO THE CLOWN AND BIG BIRD

On Sunday, September 15, 2013, “Sesame Street” put on a program in the Okaloosa C.I. visiting park for prisoners’ children. Coco made balloon animals and toys for a number of children of all ages, provided “Sesame Street” coloring books and crayons, and showed a DVD program to adults and children. It was part of the new Sesame Workshop program, Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration.

The warden approved the above photo taken in the visiting park, providing proof that Big Bird (peeking over Libby’s shoulder) suffered no ill effects from Mitt Romney’s efforts to eliminate him in 2012. Charles Norman and Big Bird — two survivors.

This program was the first positive activity for the children and families of prisoners that I’ve seen in awhile. Perhaps the DOC will continue such efforts.

Innisfree Poetry Journal

I was recently pleased and very proud to gaze at the Sept. (current) issue of that lovely online publication, Innisfree Poetry Journal, and found the name of Charles Patrick Norman listed as an author in the current edition. They have selected 3 of Charlie's poems. Here is the link to the Journal, if you'd like to read them plus many other quality poems from some very good poets:

We are happy his work is being recognized in a manner other than for punitive reasons.
